Before there was Elvis, The Beatles -- and God help us, even Justin Bieber -- Charles "Boz" Dickens got crowds of women in an uproar.

Howl in Spirit

You didn't think we'd miss the party did you?

We can learn a lot from Jack Kerouac, James McNeill Whistler and Bette Davis.
Each of these Lowell natives left a lasting mark in the arts and entertainment world. Each dared to be different, following their own unique voices instead of following the status quo.
Kerouac defined a counter-culture movement, Whistler's paintings broke artistic boundaries and Davis became known as "The First Lady of the American Screen," a liberated and savvy businesswoman in an industry dominated by men.
We salute them for passing the torch, and teaching us how to howl.
